The pumpkinseeds which are
grown in Styria are a unique variety, Cucurbita pepo convar. Citrullina
var. styriaca. They grow without a husk, are dark green in color and are
of great physiological and nutritional value.
They are a rich source of protein (35 %) and physiologically nutritive
fat (50 % pumpkin seed oil). The also contain carbohydrates, amino acids,
phytosterol, vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, D and E) and trace elements. Moreover,
the seeds are a source of minerals like calcium, magnesium, potassium,
iron, zinc and selenium.
